It has been said that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Well, that’s according to the maximalists, believing every word of the Bible to be true, while minimalists maintain the opposite.
The maximalists also assert that the modern-day Bible is historically perfect having been translated without error from the original texts even though they don’t exist.
It wasn’t until the age of reformation (16th Century) and enlightenment (1640’s to about 1800) that serious Bible questioning began. The Bible had been translated into English, the King James Version. Rational thought and reasoning finally found its way after much feudalism and religious dominance from earlier years.
Bible Contradictions
However, and it still holds to this day, there is much reluctance in the church to make it widely known that there are some serious challenges to the Bible with its said contradictions, errors and inconsistencies… This is because of vested interest and threats to livelihood if those contradictions, errors and inconsistencies dissuaded people en masse from being church members.
Billions are at stake, so those who own the churches also handle the religious education system: With funding they control the desired curriculum, keeping a lid on anything unfavourable… In addition apologists of sorts are well-funded and have huge networks… including mainstream media sources with their lies and cover ups.
However, it doesn’t cost anything for someone to investigate and find out the truth. Here are some examples of what’s said to be those irreconcilable Bible contradictions, errors and inconsistencies.
God is satisfied with his works (Genesis 1:31)
God is dissatisfied with his works. (Genesis 6:6)
The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name (Exodus 15:3)
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen (ROM 15:33)
“I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy.” (Jeremiah 13:14) “Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling.”
“The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy.” (James 5:11)
“For his mercy endureth forever.”
(1Ch 16:34)
“The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works.” (Psalms 145:9)
“God is love.” (1John 4:16)
“Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.” (Numbers 12:3)
“And Moses was wroth…And Moses said unto them, “Have ye saved all the women alive? … Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman… But all the women children … keep alive for your selves.” (Numbers 31:14, 17, 18)
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ (Matthew 1:16)
And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli (Luke 3:23)
“And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went out and hanged himself.” (Matthew 27:5)
“And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out.” (Acts 1:18)
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 NIV)
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:3-4 NIV)
God is everywhere present, sees and knows all things (Proverbs 15:3/ Ps 139:7-10/ Job 34:22,21)
God is not everywhere present, neither sees nor knows all things (Gen 11:5/ Gen 18:20,21/ Gen 3:8)
God is all powerful (Jeremiah 32:27/ Matt 19:26)
God is not all powerful (Judges 1:19)
There is an unpardonable sin (Mark 3:29)
There is not unpardonable sin (Acts 13:39)
In conclusion
As I have said, there are many other irreconcilable Bible contradictions, errors and inconsistencies. Some of these have been contested by apologists. However, in my opinion, it’s hard to accept that an almighty omnipotent God could have made such a bad job on His book, the Bible.
